Existential Therapy at InPsyche Journeys
Are You Seeking Out A Direction in Life That Is Meaningful to You?
Do you find yourself …..
– Wondering what the meaning or purpose of your life is?
– Being “stuck” in certain roles and responsibilities, and not sure why you continue to be there?
– Living your current daily life in the opposite direction from what you wish for?
– Experiencing feelings of frustration, sadness, or feel disillusioned and demoralised as you go through your daily life?
You may be experiencing questions related to your Existentiality which often revolve around one’s definition of a meaningful and purposeful life.

Existential therapy can be used to help clients to explore and become more aware of the kind of life they hope to live and what might be holding them back from doing so. Existential therapy is also a helpful way to explore ways to enhance and grow a life that is already meaningful and flourishing.
In doing so, Existential therapy explores:
– The client’s values,
– What contributes to their definition of a meaningful and purposeful life,
– The client’s current life circumstances, roles, responsibilities, and how these came to be
– Whether the client’s circumstances and roles are in line with their values, and what they hope their lives to be
– How to use the client’s values to grow and enhance their current life
– Taking small steps of action to tweak their lives or do more of what works
How I Work With Clients with Existential Concerns
Exploring clients’ existential questions reflect an exploratory inner tour of each client’s unique life, values, what they define as their purpose(s) in life and the inherent meanings that come with these. Coming full circle, we discover the essence of the client as the person that they are – what they have created and what else they will like to create in order to move closer towards their purpose and meaning.
I draw on various techniques to invite clients into the exploration of their lives together with me, such as:
– Values work (one part of the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, ACT) to better explore their life values (e.g. level of drivenness towards various areas of daily living, family, career, friendships, leisure, spirituality, self)
– Solution Focused Brief Therapy to explore the client’s life direction and visualised steps that need to happen to move towards their desired lives.
– Sandplay & Symbol Work
